Butchered Salsa

This too-long (155mm) gimp stem was kind of alluring to me. I assume that the drilling for cable is a home jobby and not the product of the Pepperman.

Steve Potts Type I fork with stem

What a gem. A gem. According to Potts, this fork was much trickier to make than the more famous Type II. My guess is that the difficulty arises from the oval blades and getting the fit just right. Very cool in its rough state but sometimes I've been getting the urge to have it nickel plated!

The re-Rise of the Cunningham seatpost pump

Well that's the hope at least. Bought 50 NIB Zefal solibloc pumps and I'm working on getting handle's CNC'ed from high quality plastic to replicate the famous WTB seatpost pump. Looking to decal these with an Indian head graphic that I've had whipped up ;)

1987 Serotta Colorado #90724

I have wanted one of these Serotta frames since ... 1987. Custom Columbus SL made for Ben Serotta flares out at the bottom bracket. The frame has meticulous lug work and fillet brazing around the bottom bracket. Can't go wrong with red.

Early/Mid 80s build kit

Picked up a groovy build kit on eBay. It is made up of Suntour, Sugino and Dia Compe parts that, according the the VRC reference mombat.org, are from 1985. I was mainly interested in the rear derailleur a bike that is in need, but am happy to get the other pieces too!

Steve Potts 88 #388180

Very happy about the latest addition to the collection. Today I picked up a red Steve Potts fillet-brazed bike from 86/87. The bike is a nice transition example, highlighting the craftsmanship that Steve's bikes exhibited from the first, but with refinements to componentry. This bike features a partial later-WTB group. Missing are the fixed-angle seatpost (FASP), Chris King Grease Guard headset and the accoutrements of a drop bar set up (WTB RM-2 and WTB shifter adapters).

What the bike does have are front and rear WTB Speedmaster rollercam brakes, taper stem, Grease Guard hubs, bottom bracket and front brake stop. More subtely, the bike has a Steve Potts modified cassette, where the teeth have been machined and the spacing modifed for Shimano-compatibility.
