From Bloor Cycles in Toronto. Beautiful bike.

Sean Kelly rides the Tourmalet - retro!

Tour de France time and I can't say enough about Sean Kelly's commentary on Eurosport. I was very excited to here that Sean had joined a Tourmalet ride at the invitation of an old team mate. The team mate and friend had made all the arrangements to get Sean a bike, kit, and shoes. The ride celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Tour's arrival at the Tourmalet. What Sean didn't know is that all the gear he was going to get was circa 1920 (or a modern reproduction). Sean ended up doing the monster climb on a 42x24 fixed bike. When asked about the climb afterward, Sean deadpanned, "on the older bike, you have to stand up when you are pedalling. You can't just spin up like on a modern bike." You don't say! Dura Ace 7410 crankset

This crankset is destined for my Merlin Newsboy. It will run a single 39T chainring. These are the last square tapered Dura Ace cranks, and very easy on the eyes in my opinion.

Stupid Campagnolo UT BB spring

Seems pretty kludgy to me.

Campagnolo donor quick release

I will be cutting this down and re-threading it. It will become the new seat quick release on my 1980 Breezer restoration.
